The battery optimizer is an integral part of the E.ON Energy Markets virtual power plant (VPP) where it implements market channel optimization (MCO) for battery energy storage systems (BESS), pooled electric vehicles (EVs), and other flexible energy assets.
It supports multiple market channels (optimized simultaneously or individually) across different countries:
United Kingdom (UK): Energy trading in day-ahead and continuous intraday markets, dynamic services (DC, DM, DR), and the balancing mechanism (BM).
Germany: Energy trading in day-ahead and continuous intraday markets, frequency containment reserve (FCR), automatic frequency restoration reserve (aFRR) both the day-ahead capacity auction as well as within-day aFRR energy.
The battery optimizer handles both stationary grid-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) and pooled electric vehicles (EVs) providing flexibility via smart charging and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capabilities.
We further handle colocation with renewable energy sources (RES) such as photovoltaic (PV) systems to optimize, among other aspects, self-consumption and grid feed-in.
As our battery optimizer is built in-house and with extensibility in mind it can be easily adapted for additional countries, market channels, use cases, asset types, and features as required. Just reach out to discuss further!
